“I can’t see you anymore,” Cas says one day.
Dean looks at him askance and flips the burger patties on the grill. “Come again?” he asks.
Cas sits on the barstool at the counter, hands folded on the polished granite and eyes downcast. It’s been two weeks since the “greatest meteor shower of the century” shook the planet – that’s what all the news broadcasts are calling it, and the world’s top astronomists are in a tizzy trying to explain it – and one week since Dean got a call from an unknown number, heard raspy uneven breathing on the other end and knew, inexplicably, that it was Cas. One week since Dean drove out to Pontiac Illinois – and why the fuck does Cas keep popping back in Pontiac?– and picked up his fallen angel, dirt caked on his overcoat and embedded in the tear tracks on his cheeks, and bundled him in the front seat with the blankets he’d shoved in the trunk.
One week since Sam and Dean undertook the impossible task of teaching Castiel how to live, instead of exist.
“Your soul,” comes the answer almost a full minute later. Cas’ voice breaks. “I can’t see your soul.”

I just watched this scene almost 10 times, trying to look at it from a casual viewers point of view and
the way Dean shifts to close his legs a bit and covers his crotch with his hands instinctively, to which I have to say I did the same thing when Cas came out (because he is so fucking sexy) and I’m a woman.
then Cas looks DIRECTLY AT DEAN with hands down and palms forward, very vulnerable and questioning, to ask “Better?”. I don’t know about you but when I seek approval it’s from the people I care about most. And I’m not saying Cas doesn’t care what Sam thinks but in the moment he was seeking approval from Dean.
then Dean looks Cas UP AND DOWN before remembering Sam is there, looking to him and then looking back to Cas, giving a slight smile and nod. With lips parted no less. Not saying a word.
If it was just a friend giving another friend the ‘good to go’, it would of just been something of a simple “yeah man, good” or what not. And would also be way less awkward.
I TRIED SO HARD BUT I CANNOT UN-GAY THIS SCENE AND WE DON’T EVEN HAVE SAM’S NOD OF APPROVAL AND THEN HIS LOOK TO DEAN OF “HAY YOUR BF IS LOOKING GOOD YES?” AND I JUST REALLY NEED THEM TO SHOW DEAN AND CAS WALKING OUT OF THE BATHROOM TOGETHER OR LEAVING THE SAME MOTEL ROOM AND THEN KNOCKING ON SAMS DOOR BEFORE THEY LEAVE TO GO ON THE NEXT HUNT TOGETHER BECAUSE I MEAN REALLY JUST LOOK AT THEM
